Director of Development

The Economy League of Greater Philadelphia is an independent, nonpartisan, nonprofit organization dedicated to research and analysis of the region's resources and challenges with the goal of promoting sound public policy and increasing the region's prosperity.

Economy League investors are leading businesses, universities, and hospitals in the region that understand how sound public policies and effective governance support the region's economic competitiveness. Additional funding for Economy League projects and initiatives comes from foundations, civic organizations, and local governments. 

Responsibilities

The Director of Development works with the Executive Director and Deputy Director to grow the financial resources of the Economy League of Greater Philadelphia. His/her work will include:

  • Working with the Executive Director, Deputy Director, and select members of the Board of Directors to refine and implement the Economy League's multi-year development strategy;
  • Planning and implementing the Economy League's100th Anniversary/World Class Greater Philadelphia Campaign;
  • Identifying and cultivating prospective investors along with the Executive Director, Deputy Director, and select Board Members;
  • Managing the annual corporate investment process to ensure that all committed investments have been received and acknowledged;
  • Managing and expanding the annual individual contribution process;
  • Collaborating with the Director of Communications to develop new fundraising strategies, events, and materials; and
  • Staffing the Board of Directors' Resource Development Committee.

Candidate Qualifications

Candidate should have at least a Bachelors degree and at least three to five years of development experience, with grantwriting, corporate and/or individual fundraising, sponsorships, and events. Additionally, he or she should possess:

  • strong written and oral communication skills,
  • creativity, self-motivation, and attention to detail,
  • effective interpersonal skills, team player,
  • significant knowledge of the region's foundation, corporate, and individual donor communities,
  • well-developed computer skills, particularly with data management,
  • commitment to strengthening Greater Philadelphia,
  • sense of humor.

Job Type

The Director of Development is a full time position.  Compensation is commensurate with experience with a starting salary range of $55,000 - 70,000 per year with a benefits package (health, dental, vision, fsa, 403b).
